2017 Beringer "Private Reserve" Napa Valley Chardonnay
The 2017 Chardonnay Private Reserve is a classic Chardonnay from Beringer. There is a good bit of richness to the Private Reserve, but in his tenure Mark Beringer has also moved this wine towards a slightly fresher style, something that was accentuated in 2017, where the warm season led to earlier picking at lower sugars than is the norm for this wine. Lemon confit, flowers, tangerine and mint are all framed by a kiss of French oak.
2018 Rombauer Chardonnay
Pale yellow with a green tinge to the hue. Aromas of yellow peach, mango with a slight citrus note intertwine seamlessly with vanilla and spice. The palate is rich and round, with the mango and vanilla fighting for the lime light, while the cream texture, vanilla and slight butter combine seamlessly. The balanced acidity closes out the finish bringing the multiple components into balance.
2010 Stags' Leap Winery Barrel Selection Chardonnay
A fashionable country resort in the mid-twentieth century, popular with Hollywood due to its 1892 stone Manor House and historic gardens, legends of bootleggers and gangsters, ghosts and gypsies, Stags' Leap has been home to three major family groups up through the modern revitalization of the winery that began in the 1970s.
Stags Leap Manor, as it was called in the 1920s, was known as one of the prominent country retreats in the Napa Valley at a time when resort and spa business was big. In addition to lodging and dining, amenities included lawn tennis, swimming, horseback riding, children's activities, golf, music, cards, a library, and Napa Valley wines and liquors (prior to and after Prohibition).
2020 Tyler Winery Santa Barbara Chardonnay
Though Santa Barbara had a relatively cold, dry winter with variable flowering, the fruit from slightly varied points of ripeness at vintage worked well to provide both ripe flavors, but also charming underlying structure and acidity
2014 Frog's Leap Napa Valley Chardonnay
In general we are seeing wines from the 2014 vintage showing more forward fruit and somewhat broader shoulders than some of the more recent vintages we have compared them to. Our 2014 Chardonnay is no exception. Make no mistake this wine is classically proportioned: completely dry with lovely acidity. Yet there is a depth to the wine that belies its relatively modest alcohol content. Eight months of sur lie aging contributes beautiful brioche, toasty aromas underscored by fresh white flower aromatics. This wine is great with all kinds of seafood, of course, but will stand up nicely to chicken and veal dishes as well… and the stinkiest cheeses you can find.
2019 La Crema Chardonnay
Aromas of Meyer lemon, gala apple, and subtle hints of oak are followed by flavors of white stone fruit, yellow plum and honeydew melon. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and concentrated with juicy acidity that drives a lingering finish.
