Item Description

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the original production of La Cage aux Folles, which won the 1983 Tony Award for Best Musical, you can celebrate this legendary audience favorite when you take home two fabulous pieces from the actual set of George and Albins beloved, extravagant St. Tropez apartment, designed by Tony Award winner David Mitchell. These fun and kooky only from La Cage set pieces sat centerstage for 1,761 performances at the Palace Theatre. Now they can take a place of honor in your home for at least as long. Heighten the excitement with the display of the actual bullwhip, brilliantly wielded every night to squeals of delight from cast and audiences alike by David Engel, the original Hanna from Hamburg Cagelle.

Your special collection of set and prop pieces includes:

  • Leg vase and canes - campier and more fabulous than that very straight, somewhat drab leg lamp from A Christmas Story, and kept safe for 40 years by David Scala, the original Phaedra Cagelle
  • Camel end table - centerstage set piece saved, revered and now donated by La Cage's original executive producer, Barry Brown
  • Hanna's famous bullwhip - David Engel's original bullwhip mounted in a glass-encased shadow box with an autographed photo of Engel as Hanna, soon to be opened for your personal whip-cracking lesson with Engel himself.
