Item Description
6" x 8.5" - Linocut print; frame not included
This is a print of a swallow, inspired by many summer evenings watching the swallows diving and darting over the lake near my house. Borne on the setting sun, their wings catch the light; I think about my day. It’s a peaceful break from the constant noise of my daily life. This version includes yellow highlights that I've added before printing. I was trying to work in a second layer of color with the print, and originally did a series with gray as the second color. However, I kept thinking of the golden sun on their wings, and printed a few with yellow/gold highlights instead. The experiment proved successful, and I loved how they came out. Every time I look at it, I think of warm summer sunsets.
Note on the images: The unframed photo was taken under natural light, and the framed photo under my much mellower kitchen light at night.
Item Special Note
I have always loved creating art! I was a fine arts major for a couple years in college, but obviously that did not work out. These days, I like to draw and explore other mediums as a way to wind down after work. I've been enjoying linocut a lot lately and planning and executing my ideas has been a good break during a very busy tax season.
