A special behind-the-scenes tour for six people of the Collections of the Valentine Richmond History Center with Director Bill Martin.

Housed in the stately 1812 Wickham House, a National Historic Landmark, this center is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting Richmond's history. It contains major changing exhibitions, which focus on American urban and social history, costumes, decorative arts, and architecture. The Valentine Richmond History Center’s Wickham House is a spectacular example of 19th century Federal architecture, and displays some of the country's finest examples of interior decorative painting. 

Examine the stitches on an 18th century settler's gown. Read a Richmond abolitionist's letters. Join the parade as returning WWII veterans march down Broad Street in photos. --- The History Center has been collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of Richmond, Virginia since 1894. The collection is the largest and finest collection of primary source material for researching and interpreting the history of Richmond.  With a focus on the history of this city, the museum houses a unique and spectacular collection of objects, papers, and textiles that document the Richmond's complex history.
