Erected in 1818, this historic mansion and its surrounding grounds were home to many people -- planter class owners, enslaved workers, nuns, soldiers, students, and tennants -- for 150 years. Open since 1970 as an historic house museum, the Hampton-Preston Mansion offers visitors a unique perspective into the history of South Carolina's capital city.
