Item Description
Behind-the-scenes tour of James Madison's Montpelier in Orange, VA, with overnight stay at the Inn at Westwood Farm and dinner at Elmwood at Sparks for two.
In the splendor of the Virginia countryside, the magnificent home of James and Dolley Madison is being rediscovered. Come explore the mind and the man who forged the framework of a nation, who created the Constitutional charter that defines our democracy, our thinking, and our society. Our package includes a very special behind-the-scenes tour of Montpelier with Michael C. Quinn, president of the Montpelier Foundation, who will explain the unique and grand-scale restoration effort that this site is undergoing, as well as the fascinating archaeological discoveries on the site.
And just across the road from James Madison’s Montpelier is the sun-filled, elegantly appointed Inn at Westwood Farm, a 1910 farmhouse on 15 lovely acres with barn, paddocks, gardens and woods. This bed-and-breakfast features four guest rooms with whirlpool tubs, fresh-cut flowers, exquisite linens, antique oriental rugs, early morning coffee in the library, and a sumptuous breakfast in the dining room or on the porch. Enjoy Contemporary American cuisine in a charming c. 1830 Federal style building at Elmwood at Sparks. Executive Chef Randy Cooper selects natural and sustainably raised ingredients from local farmers, so his menus change frequently reflecting the season and availability.
Item Special Note
