Item Description

The Director's Tour Experience at President Lincoln's Cottage provides a unique and very personal look at President Abraham Lincoln and his time in residence at the Cottage.  Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed by the Director in the Robert H. Smith Visitor Education Center.  After a brief orientation, the Director will lead the group on an in-depth, private Cottage tour. The Cottage tour is followed by another private, driving tour of the Soldiers' Home grounds with the Director.  A specially prepared gift basket filled with items from the museum store completes this memorable experience.

Commemorate the 2009 Lincoln bicentennial with this exclusive tour of President Lincoln's Cottage.  Located on a picturesque hilltop in Washington, DC, President Lincoln's Cottage is the most significant historic site directly associated with Lincoln's presidency aside from the White House. Designated a National Monument by President Clinton in 2000, President Lincoln’s Cottage served as Lincoln’s family residence for a quarter of his presidency and is the most significant historic site directly associated with Lincoln’s presidency aside from the White House. President Lincoln’s Cottage is located on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in northwest Washington, D.C. and has been restored by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a private, non-profit organization.

In addition to President Lincoln’s Cottage, the Robert H. Smith Visitor Education Center adjacent to the Cottage, features related exhibits and media presentations.
