Item Description

A behind-the-scenes tour of Oatlands with the Curator, and a private garden tour with the Head Gardener at Oatlands Historic House and Gardens.  Oatlands is a National Trust Historic Site.

Once part of the extensive Carter family plantation holdings, Oatlands is located between Washington and Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. Elegant formal gardens were created by generations of the two families who lived here. After the Civil War, the plantation became unprofitable. A prominent Washington family purchased, preserved and maintained the house and grounds as a country estate. Oatlands tells the stories of a 19th-century working plantation, a turn-of-the-century English-style country house and the families who made their home there.

Item Special Note

For four (4) persons.  Open to the public March 30–December 30 annually.  Offer expires May 31, 2010.
