Item Description

Enjoy a private tour for up to ten (10) guests of the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in elegant Grosse Pointe, Michigan and receive an insider’s look at this regional icon.  Edsal Ford was the son of automobile giant, Henry Ford, and was a president of Ford Motor Company from 1919 until his death in 1943.

The estate reflects the Fords’ passion for quality design and their collaborative work on the design of their home, the landscape and art acquisitions.  The house was designed by renowned architect Albert Kahn to resemble a cluster of Cotswold village cottages, complete with stone roofs, vine-covered walls and lead-paned windows.  Strolling through the thoughtfully decorated halls, visitors come face-to-face with a stunningly diverse collection of art, antiques and furniture that reveal the Fords' progressive and educated tastes in art and design.

The Ford House grounds are a work of art in their own right.  Designed by famed landscape architect Jens Jensen, the 86 acres of lakefront grounds appear to be almost completely natural but were meticulously planned.  The private tour will also take you through the other buildings on the estate, including the charming mock-Tudor Play House and the historic Garage where highlighted vehicles stand on display for a glimpse into Edsel’s design work at Ford Motor Company.
