"Two miles from Santa Fe's historic plaza" and "the galleries on Canyon Road" but "lifetimes away from the demands of city life", this is how the Upaya Zen Center describes its location. Enjoy a three to four day retreat in Santa Fe, New Mexico, at the center founded by Roshi Joan Halifax.
The offering entitles one guest to attend any 3 or 4-day Upaya Retreat from the 2010 calendar. Included are: tuition, all meals, and dormitory lodging. Upaya is a Zen Buddhist practice, service, and training center. The center's vision "focuses on the integration of practice and social action, bringing together wisdom and compassion."
The center, nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, "is a collection of traditional and new adobe buildings, combining Southwestern and Asian styles and featuring kiva fireplaces, rough hewn wood furniture, and captivating views of the surrounding mountains. Stone walkways meander through the native plants carpeting the campus, connecting private places with public meeting rooms, a communal kitchen, the meditation hall, and a sauna. If guests wish, they may explore the trails along the Santa Fe River and the nearby foothills. The Audubon Society preserve is within walking distance. Meal service features a delicious organic vegetarian menu seven days a week. The campus is equipped with wireless Internet."
