PBJ Connections provides mental health and behavioral health therapy to youth and families using horses. Our program is a leader in the field of equine-assisted psychotherapy and provides professional mental health treatment for Central Ohioans. Equine-Assisted Therapy at PBJ Connections uses primarily non-riding sessions to help youths understand and control behaviors, improve self-esteem, gain insight into mental health issues, and communicate more effectively. The cost of Equine-Assisted Therapy is comparable to traditional therapy sessions, however, with equine-assisted therapy youths tend to progress much more quickly because they experience their behaviors and emotions in real time and often open up more quickly with the horses than they do with adults. This helps to keep the overall cost to families, insurance companies, and programs to a minimum. The youths often do not view their sessions as therapy and actually look forward to working with the horses week after week.
