Red Wiggler Community Farm creates meaningful, fully included jobs for adults with developmental disabilities through the business of growing and selling high quality vegetables to local customers. The backbone of our farm is the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program which provides fresh vegetables to paying customers. We create service learning opportunities for area youth with and without disabilities to participate in small scale farming. All these activities occur in cooperation with nature and through the lens of environmental stewardship. Beyond our entrepreneurial activities we also harvest and deliver produce to the Manna Food Center in Rockville, Maryland. We have donated over 21,000 pounds of vitamin-rich, fresh produce to area food banks since 1996 (averaging 2,180 lbs. in 45 trips annually). This transaction allows our growers and youth volunteers the opportunity to give back to the community, which again, is a source of tremendous pride and reward.
