Item Description
The maker of the artwork Liang Shoucheng, male, billed as “The old man in peace”, is an old ceramics craftsman. Born in December, 1942 in Jingdezhen and growing up in a traditional porcelain-making family, Liang became the apprentice of Mr. Chen Zixu, a famous underglazed ceramic craftsman to learn underglaze skills. Liang was awarded for his outstanding porcelain design for many times. His blue and white porcelain series are one of the favorites of collectors and a big seller overseas. Product Introductioni?? Intertwined lotus dermatoglyphic pattern, which has a variety of names, is a plant dermatoglyphic pattern in traditional Chinese culture. The pattern, which implies far-reaching meanings, is mainly about lotuses intertwined with creeping weeds. The color “green” stands for “clear”, while “lotus” “uncorrupted”. The implied meaning of the combined “green” and “lotus” represents the wish for “uncorrupted” governance in the latter half of Qing Dynasty. Originated in Yuan Dynasty, blue and white porcelain ranks first among all the prestigious porcelains of Jingdezhen. Billed as the “pearl of porcelain”, it receives heaps of admiration and praise since it was born. Blue and white porcelains are purely hand made during all the times, from embryo-making featured by “association between hands and porcelain clay”, underglazed painting to burning in traditional Wood Kiln. Smooth and natural, the painting delivers a far-reaching hidden meaning with well-designed structures. As complicated the whole process is, it is displayed in an orderly manner. As underglazed porcelain without lead and other harmful elements, blue and white porcelain is never washed out and characterized by acid-base-corrosion resistance. Thus it is widely popular among porcelain collectors from home and abroad.
