Statistics on Paintball

You have less of a chance of being injured playing paintball than you do golfing, boating, and even bowling! Statistic is based on all injuries requiring medical attention or causing the participant to lose at least 1 day of work. (Source: SGMA International)

The latest statistical data shows that only .2 injuries per 1,000 exposures; giving paintball the lowest injury rate of any "extreme" sport. According to Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association, the average player will only suffer an injury about once every 500 years.

Playing fields

Playing fields vary in terrain and in management. Some fields have fixed stations and play areas for simple operation. Others rotate stations or change play direction every week. Speedball like it or not is where the sport is headed. This is a fast pace extremely strategic game that is played on a variety of fields. Most common is air ball which has a variety of obstacles. Speed ball ranges from corrugated pipe to lego fields and even tire and barrel fields are common. The most popular among Speedball is the Super Air Field. These large obstacles filled with air are great soft bunkers and offer a challenge for all levels and are the bunkers used in professional tournament play.

A good field will provide a day of excitement, challenges and fun.

What is the game of Paintball?

Well, combine the game of capture the flag with chess, mix in hide 'n' seek and add a large dose of adrenaline. Paintball is challenging and fast-paced. As few as two or as many as eighty can play. Each team starts at its own flag station. A starting signal is given and each team tries to reach the other team¹s station, grab the flag and race back to its station. When a player gets tagged hit by a paintball he/she is out of the game. If a player is carrying a flag when tagged, he/she must drop the flag at that spot, and then leave the game. Elimination is a popular game as well this is simply where one team eliminates the other and whoever does it the fastest wins the game.

What to expect when you get hit

Most people that have not played Paintball before have no idea what to expect. The most common question is "does it hurt when you are hit?" If a paintball hits you fired from close range (20 feet or less) it does sting a bit. All parks are extremely family oriented facilities and set up for families and kids. We do not allow people to be shot at a close range. In the beginner games the pressure on the paintball marker is set at a lower setting than intermediate or advanced. Most people tell you that after the first time you've been hit. It rarely is an issue.

What to wear

It is recommended that you wear long pants, and long sleeves. Comfortable clothing that covers as much as possible. The fill inside paintballs is non-toxic, non-caustic, water-soluble and biodegradable. It rinses out of clothing and off skin with mild soap and water. Gloves are also nice to have. A bandana is an inexpensive and effective way to cover your neck. Good running shoes or boots will keep your feet happy. Especially remember to wear a hat or helmet, a baseball cap or beanie is a good idea. Lastly, if you are inclined to jump, dive, or other hero-like actions, we recommend elbow and knee pads.

How old do you have to be to play paintball?

The recommended age is at least 10 years old. In some cases a younger child may play, but the safety gear must fit them properly. Anyone under 18 must fill out a waiver signed by their parent or guardian in order to play.

PAINTBALLS: A paintball is a round, thin-skinned gelatin capsule with colored liquid inside it. Paintballs are similar to large round vitamin capsules or bath oil beads. The fill inside paintballs is non-toxic, non-caustic, water-soluble and biodegradable. It rinses out of clothing and off skin with mild soap and water.

GOGGLES: If you are going to play paintball, you need to use a paintball mask. Not sunglasses, ski goggles, safety goggles, shooting glasses, or anything else. Paintball masks are made for the sport and must meet strict industry standards. Nothing else is specifically made to withstand the impact of a paintball going at over 270 mph.

MARKER: "markers," come in a variety of shapes and styles. They may be powered by carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen (N2) or compressed air. Many have power systems that use large refillable cylinders called "tanks" or "bottles" that give hundreds of shots before needing to be refilled. Some use small 12 gram CO2 powerlets as their power source, each powerlet being good for 15 to 30 shots.

Ages 10-17 years of age require parental waiver. Minimum paintball and air purchase required. Not valid with any other discount or promotion.  Website: paintballtickets.com
