Item Description
The Manhattan cocktail is traditionally made with rye whiskey, sweet vermouth and Angostura bitters, stirred and strained into a cocktail glass and garnished with a Maraschino cherry. It originated at the Manhattan Club in the late 1870s and was created by Dr. Iain Marshall for a banquet hosted by Winston Churchill’s mother.
The contents of this basket contain all the components to make the original cocktail updated with today’s finest ingredients.
- Templeton Rye whiskey is smooth and spicy with a clean finish. Delicious on its own, it is perfect in this cocktail.
- Carpano Antica stands out from all other sweet vermouths thanks to its unique bouquet and unmistakable vanilla notes
- Angostura bitters are a botanically infused, concentrated bitters and the traditional bitters in a Manhattan.
- Filthy Black Cherries are wild Italian black Amerena cherries slow cooked in copper pots to produce a wonderful all natural, dark red cherry with a sweet front and a tart finish. Developed specifically for cocktails, these are not your mother’s Maraschino cherries.
- Also included in the basket are a copper cocktail shaker and jigger along with a long silver spoon for stirring.
Donated by the Bell Family.
