Pendle Hill 85th Anniversary/Woodworkers' Exhibition and Auction

Produced and directed by Julian Guindon

Pendle Hill is 85 years old!  One of a handful of Quaker study, retreat, and conference centers in the world, the mission, vision, and values held dear by Pendle Hill have touched thousands of people and helped bring peace and justice to the world.  These values, rooted in Quaker tradition, have sought to uphold education, sustainability, social action, and justice through study, collaborative exploration, and interaction with the natural environment.

To mark this occasion, beginning on October 5, 2015 Pendle Hill opens its Woodworkers' Exhibition and Auction.  This fundraising idea was born when "Mama Beech", our 300+ year old State Champion beech tree lost a huge limb during a recent storm.  In keeping with our sustainability mission, over 30 woodworking artisans used the wood from this fallen limb to make one-of-a-kind wood items.  These artists also used kentucky coffee, walnut, and apple wood, also found on Pendle Hill's campus, to make these beautiful pieces of furniture, sculptures and other items.  The "State Champion" beech tree has been on our campus since the time of William Penn and is considered the largest beech tree in the State of Pennsylvania.

All of these pieces have been graciously donated to our Woodworkers' Exhibition and Auction.  All the proceeds will benefit the Pendle Hill Endowment.  Pendle Hill would like to thank all the members of the Woodworkers Committee for their tireless efforts putting the Woodworkers' Exhibition and Auction together! Thank you so much Lloyd Guindon, Tom Jenik, David Camp, John Freeberg, Samantha Smith, Hans Franke, and Wright Horne.
